The album is the 48th edition of the Now! series in the United Kingdom.

Sales of Now 48 surged after it was used as the soundtrack for an episode of Peter Kay’s Car Share, despite being out of print, the second hand sales volume was high enough to cause the album to enter Amazon’s compilation chart.

Now 48 was the favourite album of main character Kayleigh Kitson.
