About Ken Hayes
Purveyor of exquisitely stained pieces of paper.
For 19 magical fun packed years I was a cartoon animator working on children’s TV series for BBC, ITV, CH4 and S4C.
I was part of the team that made ‘The Legend of Lochnagar’ based on the story by Prince Charles. I later got to shake his hand and drink his whisky.
In 2009 I left the industry to follow my lifelong passion for watercolour painting. I’m a prolific artist and flood the country with over 800 watercolours every year.
I’m not afraid to tackle any subject and will paint anything that interests me. My simple approach is for a faithful but distilled version of the scene in front of me done with (as much as possible) first time applications of paint, I do this with very few materials, 3 brushes, Bockingford paper and just 4 colours, honest.
I sell my work through online galleries and eBay. Past sales include The Foreign Office, Lambeth Palace, British Embassy in Latvia, The Royal Ballet School, Guildhall School Of Music & Drama and Greg Stevenson of BBC Four’s ‘A Pembrokeshire Farm’.
